Ayurveda and Yoga

Ayurveda and Yoga :
Ayurveda and Yoga have a common history and vedic origin, and are the sister practices in the pursuit of physical and mental well being. Yoga is on the practical side of Vedic teachings, while Ayurveda is on the healing side and both shares a common goal which is attaining union with the Self and they complement and embrace each other
YOGA:Yoga includes a set of ethical imperatives and moral precepts, including diet, exercises and meditative aspects. It assumes that the mind is more subtle than the body, when both are brought into balance and health, the individual will be able to perceive his true nature which will allow life to be lived through him more freely and spontaneously. The aim of yoga is union with higher self, and can be achieved through its Eight Stages which are Yama - Right conduct towards others.Niyama - Right conduct towards oneself.Asana - Physical Postures.Pranayama - Control of the Breath.Pratyahara - Control of the Mind and Sense Organs.Dharana - Concentration and Control of the Attention.Dhyana – Meditation.Samadhi - Perfect Balance and Unification.
AYURVEDA :Ayurveda , the science of life is not only the ancient science of preventative health and healing but also a philosophy of living. It helps maintain health in a person by using the inherent principles of nature to bring the individual back into equilibrium with their true self. It believes that all of life are combinations of three energy-elements (doshas) - air (Vata), fire (Pitta), and water (Kapha). Imbalance of these doshas leads of illness and ayurveda treats each individual as a unique makeup of the three doshas and suggest cleansing process (panchakarma) specific lifestyle, nutritional guidelines, yoga, herbal supplement, to assist the individual in restoring the balance of the doshas
There are many commonalities in Ayurveda and Yoga, to mention fewa) Both are ancient Vedic teachings. Yoga originates in the Yajur Veda, while Ayurveda originates in the Atharva Veda and Rig Veda.b) Both recognize that keeping the body healthy is important for fulfilling the four aims of life: Dharma (duty), Artha (wealth), Kama (desire), and Moksha (liberation).c) Both recognize that the balance of doshas (humors), dhatus (tissues), and malas (waste products) is essential for maintaining good health.d) They share virtually the same metaphysical anatomy and physiology, which consists of 72,000 nadis (subtle channels), 7 main chakras (energy centers), 5 bodily sheaths, and the Kundalini Shakti (energy).e) Both advocate the use of diet, herbs, asana, pranayama, meditation, mantra, astrology, prayer, puja, and rituals for healing the entire being.f) Both encourage physical health as a good foundation for mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being.g) Both share the same view on psychology. They both understand that the attachment to the body-mind complex is the root cause of all suffering and that the ultimate state of health is experienced when we abide in our true nature, which is total peace, regardless of the state of the physical body.h) Both use cleansing methods for the body, all of which encourage the removal of waste products and toxins through their natural routes of elimination.Ayurveda has panchakarma (five cleansing actions) and yoga uses Shat Karma (six purification measures)i) Ayurveda and Yoga both emphasize cleansing of the body for health and support of spiritual practices. Their methods are similar and work by expelling excess dosha and ama, or toxins, using the body's natural routes of elimination.
Modern yoga practitioners would most certainly benefit from a basic knowledge of Ayurveda to help establish a healthy daily routine and adjust their practice according to the constitution, dosha imbalance, season to prevent disease and promote longevity.
In a Nutshell - Yoga is part of Ayurveda. Yoga is important for dissolving physical stress and calming the mind before meditation, and is the ideal ayurvedic exercise, because it rejuvenates the body, improves digestion, and removes stress.Ayurveda is part of Yoga , At the same time, yoga practitioners can benefit from the ayurvedic daily routine as part of their yoga practice. For instance, abhyanga (ayurvedic massage) helps remove toxins from the body and relaxes the muscles for yoga practice.
And it is obvious that Ayurveda and Yoga share similarities and fundamental principles on many levels and should be practiced in a combined manner to achieve optimal health, peace and to develop the capacity to love and accept all as Divine.

Ayurveda medicines

Ayurveda Medicine
Ayurvedic medicine, an ancient Indian healing system is right in sync with our growing awareness of the mind-body connection and places equal emphasis on body, mind, and spirit and strives to restore the innate harmony of the individual.
CONCEPT :
The basic concept of Ayurvedic medicine is that the body is seen as a microcosmic universe in which the five primordial elements (panchamahabhutas) - ether (akasha), air (vayu), fire (agni), water (jala) and earth (prithvi) - combine to form three humours (doshas), known as wind (vata), choler (pitta) and phlegm (kapha). It's believed each dosha has its own qualities and functions in relation to the body.
The balance between these doshas determines individual constitution (prakriti) and predisposition to disease. Constitution is also affected by the strength of a person's 'digestive fire' (agni) and bowel function (kostha).Seven tissues (dhatus) and their waste products (malas) make up the physical body and a network of channels circulate fluids and essences around the body. Three interdependent universal constituents, the three gunas - purity (sattva), activity (rajas) and solidity (tamas) - also influence health and determine mental qualities.
Disease occurs if lifestyle, mental or external factors cause an imbalance in one or more of these components. Ayurvedic medicine treats the majority of its patients using herbal mixtures, other organic food and substances that have been clinically tested and are now being scientifically validated..
UNIQUENESS :
Its uniqueness lies in its treatment plan which is tailored to the body type and individual imbalances among the vata, pitta, and kapha within and include dietary changes, exercise, yoga, meditation, massage, herbal tonics, herbal sweat baths, medicated enemas, and medicated inhalations.
Ayurvedic medicine gets rid the body of its indigestible toxins which attract viruses and compromise autoimmune processes and responses. Ayurvedic physicians pay close attention to pulse, tongue, eyes, and nails in diagnosing illness. Diagnosis is based on observation rather than laboratory testing. The doctor enquires the patient about his health and family histories. In addition, he may palpate the body, or listen to the heart, lungs, and intestines with a stethoscope. He use urine samples and the pulse to describe the balance (or imbalance) of the three doshas. Ayurvedic treatment then consists of cleansing and detoxification (Shodan or Pancha Karma), palliation (Shaman) to balance and relax the three doshas, rejuvenation (Rasayana), and mental hygiene and spiritual healing (Satvajaya)
PRESENT STATUS :At present the Ayurveda medicine is well set to re-orient itself to modern scientific parameters. Simultaneously, it is well poised for much greater, effective utilization to benefit the whole humanity to reach its goals of Health. Ayurveda medicine which started as a magico-religious practice, matured into a fully developed medical science with eight branches which have parallels in the modern western system of medicine and it has developed into following sixteen specialities 1. Ayurveda Siddhanta (Fundamental Principals of Ayurveda). 2. Ayurveda Samhita.3. Rachna Sharira (Anatomy).4. Kriya Sharira (Physiology).5. Dravya Guna Vigian (Materia Medica & Pharmacology).6. Ras-shastra.7. Bhaishajya Kalpana (Pharmaceuticals).8. Kaumar Bharitya (Peduatrics).9. Prasuti Tantra (Obstetrics & Gynaecology).10. Swasth-Vritla (Social & Preventive Medicine).11. Kayachikitsa (Internal Medicine).12. Rog Nidan (Pathology).13. Shalya Tantra (Surgery14. Shalkya Tantra (Eye & ENT).15. Mano-Roga (Psychiatry)16. Panchkarma. PREPARATION:The main part of Ayurveda Medicine is Herbal Tonics or Rasayanas which are prepared according to the Vedic traditional standards practiced in ancient times. They are made of only 100% natural ingredients, using only the best of the Ayurveda and Western herbs and spices, ghee (purified butter), raw honey, dried fruits, Sucanat (unprocessed sugar) and natural flavors. They are prepared by hand (the old custom), using utensils of copper, iron and clay. Being highly nutritious and antioxidant they provide many elements which are lacking in the modern diet. formulated with the intention of bringing back into balance one or more of the five elements, which get put out of balance from improper diet etc. In return this promotes balance on the physical, mental and subtle levels of our being which will add life to our years as well as years to your life.
Ayurveda medicine does not believe in trying to kill viruses in the body with powerful chemicals, but believes in assisting the bodies own healing energies with the proper harmonizing herbs and the ideal individual diet. This way the immune system will work the way nature intended it to.

I usually enjoy the serious debates and airings about health

I usually enjoy the serious debates and airings about health in the parties and the banquet. Since I am from the alternative health field, mostly the discussions were health related. Normally my involvement in these airings is very sincere. If I am a car racer, the talk will be surely about racing and tracks. Even without the presence of a medical person, people have debates related to health. So I hadn’t thought my presence was the cause of the discussion of health subjects. It is a serious concern like climate. So we can call these debates a universal cession of common man. They exchange their honest view and post remark on the latest health trends. My objection about these debates is they are very superficial exhibitions. Obesity is a very common subject of this discussion. In a posh dinner, it will be the hero (Because the antagonist is nearby). This subject have been discussing in different perspectives as per the availability of time. The serious participants are middle aged gentlemen. Most of the time, teen and youth are the spectators. The talk round starts from the difficulties met with the weight gain, proceeds through the short cuts of slimming and ceases with discomfiture that nobody cares. At certain points, there were serious arguments and heated exchanges. As the fighting teams are over weighed, spectators hold their breath. But it will end as a storm in the teacup. Now I am not taking much interest to participate these airings. Why? . I will cite one typical party.

The party was at an evening. The hall had decorated with cream of the society. I was a bit late. I went straight to the host and wished him. Most groups were live and hall was vibrating. I joined one were serious debate on obesity was going. One had been talking the different aspects of weight gain. He gained some more mileage with my presence. His arguments are here.’ Increase in the food intake is the main cause of weight gain. The children are not allowed to sweat due to the affection; in turn they will become lazy. Besides they were fed with preserved new generation food. This continues in the future. Over and above the globalization provides huge rug, which arrests full sweating. This is why the obesity is increasing’. I had agreed completely, added some ayurvedic tips to improve the debate. The discussion continued till the announcement of the food. In no time my friend and his family rushed to the buffet table. Our host was very sharp at the table and encouraged everyone to taste the full stuffs. My friend tasted almost all dishes and completed with a cream desert. I am watching him with curiosity. He had finished the dinner in 20 minutes and helped his son after that. The boy was an obese figure and I am sure he never sweated in his life. He had went outside and waited in the porch. With a beck, he bought his car beside, entered and gone.
I felt incessant pain; he was my colonel in the war against indecent food habits and notorious lifestyles few minutes ago. He has put on and gone. This was not my first or last incident of same script. This happens regularly with some interesting climaxes. Do you believe these people are gambling their life? Certainly no. They are aware of the outcome of the condition and try to correct their styles. But some rank will not permit them for an ideal life style. Here the host’s persistence created the dilemma. We need to help them. We cannot help the people who are fully unaware of the life styles and diet causing obesity. But who are willing to follow the restrictions to the possible end should be considered. Then how they can get rid of their over weight.
This comes from my personal experience. I am a short man with 167 cms of height. Since the age of 20, I had maintained 50- 55 Kg weight. I involved in almost all sports in my club and jobs in my small farm. I got married at the age of 27.In Indian custom, the bride and groom must visit their friends and relatives as early as possible after the marriage. In all visits, we were entertained with a good feast. The spread had included all possible stuffs available with the specialties of the host. We need to finish all the items. By that we assure our endearment to them. So it is a must to finish or at least taste all items. Most of time, these feasts became a family get together. Thus six months finished with jazz and jokes, feast and tunes… One day I accidentally weighed myself, reading was a shocking figure. 78 Kgs. My body had gained 23Kgs in 180 days- nearly 50% increase. There were knee pain, palpitation, sweating, difficulty to talk etc feeling to me. There was no question in reaching a precise diagnosis. I am obese now. I recollected my muff lifestyle with shame. Last six months there was no exercise to my body and fed with heavy stuffs. This added to worse the situation. (During honeymoon, there was enough sex. But I didn’t consider it as an exercise). I avowed to follow an ideal diet with a goal of slimming. Enough exercises are placed in the chart. Usually I use my motor bike to and fro for conveyance. I had determined to walk to home for lunch. My out patient time in the morning ends at 1 O’ clock. So there is enough time to reach my home by walk. But there were three patients still after my timings. So I finished late and used my motor bike to reach the home. My wife was waiting for me. I explained the happenings and my promise for an ideal diet. Suddenly she had enraged on me. The curry prepared for meals was with a very special fish from Alleppey backwaters. It was put on a plantain leaf and cooked with Indian spices with minimum oil. It was a very tasty dish with rice or roti. So I postponed my decision and joined the full lunch with joy. After the lunch I realized that the ideal diet chart needs some compromises. But I want to burn my fat also. Unawares an idea flashed in my mind. I usually prescribe some ayurvedic medication to my patients for slimming. I selected three for me- Slimit capsule, Lomedas Tablet and Sagarlic Tablet. These three are from reputed Ayurvedic pharmaceuticals in India. They are purely herbal and free from side effects. I didn’t want to pollute my body with any toxins as medicines. The ayurvedic medicines are high potent food stuffs. So we can use it boldly. I feel the difference in my attitude to food. The appetite was reduced slowly like a smooth down ward graph. My body used the deposited fats for my exercises and other sweating jobs. I followed the diet restrictions to my extent without breaking the relationships. I went to enjoy parties at week ends. I used non vegetarian stuffs at lunch time. For other foods, I preferred vegetarian diet. In six months my weight dropped to 65Kgs (Some of my friends shed 20-30 Kgs in six months).
In this wise we can help the people who are willing to reduce the weight without breaking their relations. Through my experience, I am suggesting a slight change in the diet. I prefer my friends to take a fully uncooked lunch. You can take any fruits and vegetables as you wish. Because most of the week ends are abounded with dinner parties. So you can participate in the parties without violating your diet chart. Also if the lunch is light, the body uses the deposited fats for its immediate energy needs in the day time. It is easy to carry some fruits or vegetables in the lunch box to offices. The feed back from the new change is very promising. Most of the friends feel very difficult in the transition period initially. Who are bold to reduce the body figure will survive this transition period. So you need to stock three weeks medication initially. If this stock is finished in time, order for next five months stock boldly. I added some more medications like Abana, Liposem, Losterol etc to the list. All are safe ayurvedic medicines with out any side effects.

Premature ejaculation- Ten ayurvedic drugs you can buy

Ayurveda is an ancient Indian medical science.According to ayurveda, pubic region is the seat of ‘vata’ or air. If the air is obstructed, the vata dominating seats will not deliver the optimum. The life style of this time is not allowing the proper circulation of the air inside the body especially hips. The foremost function of the air in the pubic region is the sexual act. In the last decade there is a steep rise in male sexual problem. It is affected by the modern life style. The world is searching for the perfect completion of the organic thirst. Because of these, new medicines like Viagra attain popularity in very short span. Its side effects are now hitting the headlines. Still there are millions with the sexual disorders. Here, side effect free ayurveda comes in to the limelight. “The act of love making is an essential part in the life”, Ayurveda says. Food, sleep and sex are the tripods which are engaged in keeping the harmony of life. Sufficient thrust should be given for these three.
Every one dreams an ideal mating with the partners reaching the climax simultaneously. For that in love making, most of the partners wish a never ending episode. They hope were able to prolong their sexual encounters. The number one sexual complaint among men is the lack of control of ejaculation. As the ejaculation is the orgasm of the men, it is very serious. Concerns range from the man who will ejaculate within seconds, at the first touch or just prior to penetration, to the man who is able to receive oral and manual stimulation without ejaculating, but with intercourse will orgasm within a minute. There are men who report being quick to ejaculate from their very first sexual encounter and remain so. There are men who report having been quick during early sexual encounters but somehow gained control until suddenly losing control again. Then there are men who seem never ever to have been bothered by an untimely ejaculation. Obviously there is not just one type of ejaculatory concern. As the female partner needs some time to reach the orgasm, the premature ejaculation kills the pleasure of love making.
As a organic life science, Ayurveda contribute its zenith to respond. All this concerns can be well addressed by ayurveda. It approaches the real time trouble in a different way. The herbal medications will correct the vitiated air and restore the physiological harmony, suiting the delivery of the utmost. The poly herbal formulations aimed to work in this way. Ayurveda treatment approaches the issue in all possible dimensions, thus frame a comprehensive solution. It works well with the man with ejaculation on contact to one with orgasm on penetration. The level is well read by the ayurveda sexual drugs, modifies and corrects the internal imbalance. Ayurveda drugs are potent food stuffs. So they will not harm the body tissues.
